SQL Server Registry available: Extended Security Updates for SQL Server 2008 / 2008 R2

July-9 2019 marks the official last day of SQL Server 2008 and 2008 R2 support. Customers that need to remain on SQL Server 2008 and 2008 R2 for some additional time can leverage Extended Security Updates (ESUs). To obtain security updates for SQL Server on-premises or hosted environments, customers must first register the eligible SQL Server instances in their own SQL Server Registry.
